Single-channel surge protector for EPoC links, mounted beside the EPoC receiver to guard both the signal and the power path on the coaxial run. Two BNC sockets form the pass-through. Protection level is 6 kV in common and differential mode alike, clamping voltage 100 V in both, discharge current 2 kA at 1 kA per line, response time 5 ns. Up to 60 V DC and 1 A are permitted, at which point dissipation is 2 W. An indicator lights once the protector is used up. The PD-VDSL-MI1GQ is a bridge modem for long-reach Ethernet links, combining a 10/100/1000TX copper port on RJ45 with a VDSL2 extender port, likewise on RJ45. The transmission medium is twisted pair copper cable such as Cat3 telephone cable; distances of up to 2km are possible over one wire pair, and both symmetrical and asymmetrical transmission at up to roughly 100 Mbit/s are supported. Achievable data rates depend heavily on cable quality: measured on a Cat3 telephone cable, the approximate values without guarantee are 95/95 Mbit/s at 100m, 25/20 Mbit/s at 600m and 5/2 Mbit/s at 2000m downstream and upstream. The metal housing is fed at 12-24VDC through a 2.1/5.5 hollow plug with an adapter for screw terminals included, drawing 4,5W at 15 BTU/h. The operating range covers -20°C to 65°C at a net weight of 0.33 kg, and the device is not compatible with the PD-VDSL-MI1G.
